Human cells send signals like computers
Human body cells are wired like computer chips to direct signals that instruct them how to function, University of Edinburgh scientists have discovered.
But unlike a f i xed circuit board, human cells can rapidly rewire their communication networks to change their behaviour, according to the groundbreaking research.
University of Edinburgh scientists say the discovery of this “cell- wide web” turns mankind’s understanding of how instructions spread around a cell on its head.
The study has been pub - lished in the scientific journal Nature Communications.
