Alastair Campbell, longtime adviser to Tony Blair, announced that he had been expelled from the Labour Party after declaring his support for the Lib Dems in last Thursday’s vote. @Campbellclaret revealed: “Plenty of precedent of members voting for other parties/causes. Some are now senior Party staff. Approach also contrasts with our era when Tony Blair was being pressed by whips to withdraw whip from Jeremy Corbyn and others for persistently voting against @Uklabour in Parliament, and he said No.” @Tony_robinson added: “Blimey! Labour struggling for years to take disciplinary action against members accused of antisemitism but managed to expel Alastair Campbell for voting Lib Dem over the course of one Bank Holiday weekend. Amazing new efficiency!” @Owenjones84 countered: “Given it’s a Labour Party rule that any member who publicly supports another party auto-excludes themselves – as it was when Tony Blair was leader – why is there any controversy over Alastair Campbell?” @Peoplesmomentum hit out: “Alastair Campbell’s ‘sexed-up’ dossier started the Iraq war and left a million dead. Being kicked out of the party is the least he deserves.”

There was no doubt what was ‘occuring’ on Twitter yesterday, as fans reacted to the news sitcom Gavin and Stacey was returning for a Christmas Special. @Scottygb revealed: “All of the main cast are coming back for the Gavin & Stacey Christmas Special, which will be 60 minutes long.” @Beardedgenius wrote: “It is with deep regret that I admit that Gavin & Stacey is something involving James Corden that was good. Please respect my privacy at this difficult time.”

Star @Jopage_ posted: “I’m so excited! Can’t wait to get on the slots down Barry again! See you at Christmas!” @Geoiouise predicted: “Can just imagine Christmas Day 2019 already, the scenes on social media when Gavin and Stacey comes on telly. Outnumbered, its time to announce a Boxing Day special to top off the 2010s.” @Nervousrem said: “Can Christmas hurry up. I need to know if Smithy and Nessa got married. I need to know what Gavin and Stacey’s child is like. I need to know what’s going on with Dawn and Pete.”
