Beef in focus at Inverurie event
“Beef after Brexit” will be one of the areas coming into focus at Scotland’ s Beef Event 2019– which takes place in Aberdeenshire tomorrow.
The day’s main seminar which tackles Brexit will be chaired by former BBC Scotland agricultural correspondent, Ken Rundle, with a panel comprising Gordon MP and Aberdeenshire farmer Colin Clark, agricultural connsultant Peter Cook, Clydesdale Bank head of agriculture Brian Richardson, QMS chair woman and Peebles farmer and vet Kate Rowell, and 2015 Scotch Beef Farmer of the Year, David Watson, of Darnford, Durris, Banchory.
The day will also include a comp re hens iv ed emon strati on programme with an emphasis on sensor technology, grassland management, alternative bedding, foot trimming, hydrogen power, new fencing techniques and drone technology.
The organisers have declared the one-day event, which has adopted the theme “Breeding, Feeding, Succeeding”, a sell-out on the trade stand front, with more than 120 companies presenting their wares.
The programme will also include a farm tour by tractor and trailer and an extensive range of technical demonstrations highlighting the latest technology available to beef farmers.
The event, which takes place at Nor th B ethelnie, Oldmeldrum, Inverurie, will be hosted by farmers Robbie, Barbara and James Milne and is likely to attract a large attendance of beef farmers and industry professionals from across Scotland and further afield.
Running from 9 am to 5 pm, the event will be officially opened by Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs, Fergus Ewing, at 10:30am.
