As transsexual people we condemn intimidation and abuse in all its forms. In particular, we deplore the behaviour aimed at Julie Bindel following a public meeting in Edinburgh to discuss women’s sexbased rights (The Scotsman, 6 June).

While some of us agree with Julie and others disagree, we all support her right to express her views. We live in a free, open and liberal democ racy in which women and men should be able to voice their opinions without fear of violence, threats or intimidation.
