- Festival fever Humble pie

I live in Edinburgh and I love the festivals, but wonder where the income that’s generated from them goes

Margaret Quinn

No, Edinburgh people are tired of over-exploitation and unbridled greed. The so-called benefits from festival money does not flow uniformly to the people of Edinburgh. Promoters from outside, the cheap labour they import from down south and the large hotel chains benefit. The festival is great but bigger certainly does not mean better. There is a limit to how much disruption local people are prepared to accept. Airbnb profiteers are destroying communities in the city centre area.

Tim Wright

There is too much going on and some shows I paid for last year were absolutely rubbish. The free shows I went to were more entertaining. Whoever decides what’s good to pay for and what ain’t clearly has no entertaining bone in their body. Also, some shows get bigger venues than they need while others get overcrowded.

Martin John Mcintosh Tait It is a sanitised, ersatz version of its former self. Companies are unable to take risks because of the massive costs of putting on a show; there is far too much comedy and it has become hemmed in to a very small part of the city.

Tommy Buchanan

Well it does seem to have evolved into a same old, same old, kind of routine with not much difference year-on-year. Even the street performances are predictable and attendance kind of habitual for locals. I’ve no idea how to solve that, but good luck with it.

Raymond Rose

It has outgrown the city with congestion on the roads, congestion on the pavements andpublic transport slowed right down. It seems to be more a money-making exercise than a multicultural festival of the arts!

Rosemary Young Essentially they have initially done nothing wrong but have made things bad for themselves by issuing a patronising apology. Mars did the same by changing the brand of their flagship product the Mars Bar to “believe” ahead of a World Cup. Yes, indeed, I believed they were going out. This didn’t stop the production of the deep-fried Mars Bar in Glasgow.

Gordy Boyle In the grand scheme of things its not earth-shattering but it does expose how Britain doesn’t instinctively understand that at certain sports it’s four nations, not one.

Richard Bowman Nicola will be along in a minute to state this shows the Scottish people are in favour of a second referendum.

Steve Somerville Standard fare – even in the Six Nations rugby O2 ignores Scotland and supports the English team.

Jette Goldie If I use Just Eat I’m thinking about ordering a big dirty pizza. What footy team they follow at head office is of no concern to me.

Martin Waugh The entire set-up in and around the airport is not fit for purpose. The airport is expanding and it’s not coping already. Problems getting in, getting out, the roads, security, baggage times, passport control etc. The whole system needs to be ripped up and started again.

John Monaghan

I use this junction twice a day and have almost been run into three times. Had a bus pull out in front of me last week as the driver didn’t look when joining the main carriageway. Drivers are most definitely not doing 40mph.

Angela Morgan

Painting some new white lines is far cheaper for the council than what is actually required – a proper transport/ road system into the alleged international airport.

John Ross

Just wait till the Highland Show arrives – absolute carnage. The queue will be back to The Gyle if they don’t change something.

Atholl Cunningham

There was queueing a mile into the carriageway heading to the airport this morning – an accident waiting to happen.

Kevin Wood

Each time I have used it I have narrowly missed being hit
