Edinburgh’s only city centre food festival will be adding five new faces to its line up when it returns to Assembly George Square Gardens for its fifth year next month.

Taking place from 19 to 28 July, the popular free to enter event will showcase a range of international cuisine through a diverse selection of producers and street food stall vendors, serving up some of

Scotland’s best contemporary food and drink.

Plant-based street food specialists Faceplant Foods, who recently came close to winning the top award at the Scottish Street Food Awards finals, will be joined by Mana Poke with their fresh and vibrant Hawaiian street food.

The healthy bowls comprising of diced raw fish, rice and a range of colourful accompaniments, have graced street-food markets across Scotland for more than a year and developed a loyal following.

Also making their debut is Fifebased Fox Hat, who offer an exciting BBQ experience that sees them serving up slabs of meat from their Land Rover Defender and smoker, with their communal and collaborative way of cooking already popular with foodies across Scotland.

Also featured will be social enterprise community café Punjabi Junction, which offers a blend of traditional Punjab and homecooked cuisines whilst supporting women from Edinburgh minority ethnic backgrounds.

On the drinks front, Edinburgh’s own Pickerings Gin will be serving up their award-winning spirit in their miniature Japanese airport fire engine, ENGINE 47, keeping festival goers refreshed with their range of cocktails as well as the classic Pickerings gin and tonic.

Alex Fitzhowle, Edinburgh Food Festival festival producer, said: “We want to make sure that we have a range of food and drink stalls that offer something for everyone, have great sourcing policies and are a true reflection on Scotland’s amazing culinary scene.

“That is why we are so excited to introduce our top five new producers for 2019.

“Each offers some really exciting food and drink and are a valuable addition to the festival.”

Entry to the festival and the talks are free and non-ticketed.
