Gravy train?
Susan Brown
Why ask the public when they’ve already decided what they’re doing. It’s a bit like the trams, giving the impression that they’re listening when in fact it’s only a PR exercise.
Ian Munro
Just make Edinburgh a no-go area. I only live here because my house does. My heart and my wallet live elsewhere.
Jim Taylor
In principle, getting rid of polluting vehicles is a good idea, but this being Edinburgh, the politicians can be guaranteed to stuff it up with the most ridiculously complex scheme that suits no one but themselves.
Lucien Romano I haven’t felt the need to drive or shop in Edinburgh for about 30 years.
Jim Keddie
Public: “It’s a ridiculous idea. I’m all for reducing pollution etc but this isn’t the way. People need to be able to get through the city.” Council: “Thanks, but we’re doing it anyway.”
Peter Keenan Edinburgh’s tram chief has pocketed a 33 per cent pay rise while the transport system he is in charge of made a £10 million loss last year.
There should be a board in place to monitor pay for the top level of all companies, measured against the financial statements. I think all staff should have the same percentage increase across the board on all levels, if it’s not possible, then the big boss doesn’t get it either.
Emma Griffin Don’t really see the issue. He was already paid a reasonably modest salary by industry standards, and this is bringing him more into line with what his position should pay.
Chris Wildig
Like everything else in Edinburgh it’s done backwards – the salary should be decreased 33 per cent. The chief is being awarded and motivated for making further loss.
Amen End
A pay rise, even though it’s quicker to get the bus to the airport.
Chris Mcfadden
Disgusting, when all care services are being cut and children’s services closed.
Leann Bruce
It is high time that the fat cats’ huge pay rises were stopped.
