Spain’s kids secure Euro glory in Italy

-

Spain were last night crowned winners of the Under-21 European Championship after defeating Germany 2-1 in the final in the Italian city of Udine. The Germans were caught cold, falling behind after just seven minutes, and never recovered.

Fabian Ruiz, who plays his club football in Italy with Napoli, was found in space after a flick from Mikel Oyarzabal and he simply drove forward and unleashed a curling leftfoot shot from range that nestled in the corner of Alexander Nubel’s net.

The young Spaniards, so comfortable in possession, stretched their lead midway through the second half when daniol more acted first to dinkt he ball over Nubel after the Schalke keeper had spilled another long-range Ruiz strike.

Germany pulled one back through Nadiem Amiri right at the death but his effort from distance was too little, too late.
