#LIBDEMS

Liberal Democrat leadership candidates Jo Swinson and Sir Ed Davey have both said that they would not form a coalition government with Labour under Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership.

@Knownfoot said: “Nick Clegg said he wouldn’t raise tuition fees but it still happened. Trust a Lib Dem? Not bloody likely.”

@ZENODEADCENTRE1 commented: “Which is a bit rude given how hard he and the Tories have been working to rebuild support for the Lib Dems.”

@shipleyk13 posted: “Lib Dems will be opposing a second referendum next and supporting a no deal Brexit next.”

@grant_baines said: “Good, the centre shouldn’t be propping up far left or far right governments.”

@Simplyveggie posted: “They’d sell their own grandmothers if they thought they could get a shot at government.”

@doublethinkhq commented: “As a socialist I say any help to get rid of Corbyn and make Labour electable again is massively appreciated. Thanks Lib Dems.”

@socialist1959 added: “Did anyone ask Corbyn whether he would contemplate a coalition with the Lib Dems? We’re still suffering the effects of their previous term in coalition with the Tories. How many seats did they lose as a result of that?”

#WIMBLEDON

For tennis fans around the country the wait was over as play got under way at the Wimbledon championships.

@Holohantrevor said: “Centre Court in all of its majestic glory. Beautiful. There really is no other tennis arena anywhere on Earth like it. @Wimbledon is here at last! Looking forward to it!”

@williamssoph posted: “Strawberries at the ready.”

@firstoptennis commented: “It’s breathtakingly beautiful. Someday hopefully I will get tickets through the ballot.”

@Sean418 was very excited: “Over these next two weeks, I’ll be watching every forehand drive, backhand slice and overhead smash. Bring on the masters of the game, the ladies and gentlemen dressed in crisp tennis whites ready to do battle. Game, set, match. Champion!”

@Xstreme_mark added: “Love Wimbledon – the tradition, drama, excitement and not forgetting the finest strawberries and Champagne.”
