Help consumers

-

We the undersigned are writing to underline our support for the creation of the new consumer body, Consumer Scotland. We see the formation of a new body as a positive development in the protection of consumers in Scotland. Collectively, we assist millions of Scottish consumers in resolving issues through multiple channels.

Through our collective experience we recognise the diversity of issues experienced by consumers across the UK varies and that consumers in Scotland experience consumer detriment in varying degrees to the rest of the UK.

For example, the cost of postal delivery charges or experiencing more issues with flight delays in the Highlands per head of population than anywhere else in the UK.

We see Consumer Scotland as an independent force for positive change and to help build better outcomes for everyone, supporting both consumers and business in a collaborative approach to building Scotland as the most trusted marketplace in the UK.

Consumer Scotland should ensure the consumer is put at the heart of the Scottish economy and to support and empower them as well as protecting vulnerable consumers. In the creation of the new entity we wish to offer any support and guidance as required to ensure the success of Consumer Scotland.
