British Airways is facing a record fine of £183m for last year’s breach of its security systems by the Information Commissioner’s Office.
@Grahamwall20 commented: “They will eventually recoup this money by either hiking fares or paying off staff.”
@relvitme said: “That’s £183m in the Brexit kitty for Johnson to play with.”
@treen37 posted: “Is that money coming the way of the customers who had their data stolen? No, just being wasted by our inept government.”
@emmakatecos said: “I’m confused as to why the money going to the British government is seen as a fair solution? There will surely be thousands of customers this event affected who aren’t British.”
@jatthews1 commented: “Why is the victim been made to pay such large amount when those responsible – ie hackers
– will just get aslap on the wrist?”
@Bouvierstephen posted: “Lots of people complaining about the impact of this on tickets. Simple: book with another carrier. There is a lot of capacity out there. There is no-longer any reason to fly with BA.” @tonywitholly added: “If the government was fined every time it made a mistake, it would be bankrupt.”
#UKAMBASSADOR
The falllout continues after memos written by UK ambassador to the US Sir Kim Darroch describing the White House under Donald Trump as “inept” and “dysfunctional” were leaked to the press.
@Iandunt said: “Imagine if our US ambassador didn’t think Trump was “uniquely dysfunctional”. He’d need his head examined.”
@Keenabron posted: “Why is this news? Everybody knows this is true. It’s the media that seems to pretend like he’s actually competent when he strings two sentences together without a gaffe. “
@happyhamers commented: “I’m sure every other diplomat, leader, secret service man and the White House staff have said the same thing.”
@Tonynicol3 said: “Any current or former Foreign Secretary who can say the government doesn’t share his views is clearly unfit for any cabinet position.”
@web_rant added: “The best part is this can just as easily be applied to Boris Johnson.”
