Jeremy Corbyn has challenged the next PM to put their Brexit deal or a no-deal exit to a second referendum, saying that Labour would campaign for Remain in those scenarios.

@Weirdlittlehen said: “Really baffling as to why Remainers think they can spend the years calling the 2016 ref illegitimate and saying they don’t respect it, whilst asking for another referendum and assuming anyone will think it’s legitimate or respect it. Why should we?”

@Geoffgeunther replied: “Farage said he wouldn’t respect the first referendum if Remain won. Double standard much?”

@predict06666587 posted: “One third of Labour votes just joined the Brexit Party and Lib Dem voters are not coming back. How to destroy a once great party.”

@cettamercieca commented: “Maybe we should vote on whether we should have another referendum. Then if you don’t like that result, we can have another one just for the sake of it.”

@Rayarnott said: “He should have been at this point at least a year ago. It was inevitable he would get there eventually but I think for him as leader of the Labour party, he has left it too late.”

@Markc19971 added: “It’s quite strange that he’s now all for the EU despite being against it for basically the entirety of his political career. It seems to me he’s simply trying to hold on to his remaining voters as he knows fine well he’s run the party into the ground.”

@Chrisma68264470 commented: “He was the first candidate that got me interested in politics. Sort of my Bernie Sanders.”

@cui2b8 said: “He’d be the only man to beat Trump if he was 20 years younger as a third party candidate.”

@Medfordchaz45 posted: “We indeed have lost a Great American today.”

@andrewchanning added: “I’m still not ruling him out of throwing his hat in the ring later this year.”
