Scottish-born spinner Gordon in Ashes squad

- By CLIVE WELLINGTON

England have included former Scotland spinner Kirstie Gordon in their squad of 13 for tomorrow’ s Women’ s Ashes Test against Australia at Taunton.

Nottinghamshire’ s Gordon, pictured, who is from Huntly, has been rewarded after taking eight wickets in the warm-up fixture between Australia and England Women’s Academy.

Formerly a member of the Scotland Wildcats, she moved south to study at Loughborough University and impressed the England selectors, playing in last year’s World Twenty 20 in the West Indies.

Dan ni Wyatt and Jenny Gunn, who were par t of the one - day squad, will remain with England Women’ s Academy to take part inT20s against Australia A and Ire - land. The Ashes Test is part of a multi-format contest between England and Australia.

The Aussies have already won the one-day series so England must win the Test as a draw would mean that should they prevail in all three of the following Tw en ty20s, the series would end in a stale - mate and Australia, as holders, would retain the urn. lA 14- strong squad has been named for Scotland Under-19 men’ s trip to the Net herlands from 24 July to 2 August.

Scotland will meet Denmark, France, Ireland, Jersey and Netherlands with the aim of claiming the final spot at the 2020 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
