Edinburgh digital skills boost from Cityfibre

-

Cityfibre is teaching Edinburgh residents cyber safety and digital skills after partnering with the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society.

The fibre optic telecoms firm, which is investing more than £100 million in Edinburgh’s fibre network as part of a partnership with Vodafone, is backing the Fringe Days Out scheme.

More than 30 community groups and charities from across the capital benefit from the scheme, which provides Fringe vouchers and Lothian Bus tickets to attendees.

The firm is delivering the sessions as part of the Get Online initiative from the City of Edinburgh Council’s libraries team, showing participants how to stay safe online and build the skills they need for the future.

Elaine Doherty, Cityfibre’s city manager for Edinburgh, said it was “critical” that everyone benefit from the fibre network, adding: “Full fibre will be a hugely positive force in all areas of day-to-day life, including education and employment.”
