There is an art to lounging in the garden. You need a lightweigh­t paperback, to double as a face shield if it’s sunny, and a magazine, to swat marauding woodlice, sun cream, a tarpaulin to chuck over yourself when it starts to rain, and a walkie-talkie, so you can demand a snack delivery from whoever is still indoors. “Crisps? Copy”. Oh, and something soft to lie on, like these sun loungers, since picnic blankets aren’t enough to cushion our rusty joints. n
