The Proclaimers will ask fans to record their legendary anthem ‘Sunshine on Leith’ during two sold out shows at the Edinburgh Castle esplanade this weekend - with footage set to be used in a special side project.

A short documentary being made about the popular song - which is famously sung by fans of Hibernian Football Club by Filming Scotland. On the band’s website, a request has been posted for people to film all or parts of the song on their camera phones, shooting it landscape to be added to the documentary.

The message states: “You don’t need to film the whole thing, after all you are here to enjoy the show, but even if it is 20-30 seconds of the song, the crowd that’ll be great, or even better feel free to turn the camera on you and your nearest as you belt out a classic under the castle lights.”
