Care group grows in Glasgow

- By HANNAH BURLEY

A Lanarkshire-based care home provider is expanding its footprint after securing a £900,000 loan from Barclays.

Keane Premier Healthcare will purchase two care homes on the back of the funding, adding Ashton Grange Care Home and Greyfriars Care Home, both in the Glasgow area, to increase its capacity by almost 150 per cent.

It has received more than £3 million in funding support from the lender in the past three years, which has enabled the care group to more than double the number of care homes it operates.

Keane has also received support from Barclays’ operational banking and asset finance services, while its support services division has worked with the bank’s Connect With Work programme to recruit six apprentice care workers from The Prince’s Trust.

The recruitment initiative supports people from oftenoverlooked communities to enter the workplace by providing tailored training and connecting them to businesses that are hiring.

Ryan Smith at Keane Premier Healthcare said: “Our business relies on creating a family atmosphere and providing high-quality care within each one of our homes.

“The support we have received from Barclays has meant we can provide more people in the west of Scotland with the best option for them and their loved ones.”

The Barclays deal team was led by Andy Hall, head of corporate banking for Central Scotland, and relationship director Helen Hutchison.

Jamie Grant, head of Scotland and Northern Ireland at Barclays, said: “We have provided a tailored funding package to help the business realise its ambitions, but have also made a valuable introduction to The Prince’s Trust through our employability programmes.

“The business is now working with the local community to upskill and support young adults into work.”
