Doing ... or dying

-

Woody Johnson, the US ambassador to the United Kingdom, has predicted a great relationship between Donald Trump and Boris Johnson, implying great things will happen. He did not specify or give exact locations. The European Research Group (ERG) are setting out their stall already.

What if Donald Trump is impeached and fails to win a second term or Johnson stumbles? What then?

In the hyped euphoria of Boris Johnson’s premiership based on Tory party members only, Mark François of the ERG group has stated or perhaps threatened that the current Withdrawal Agreement even with the backstop removed would be opposed by the ERG!

ERG to the right, Remainers to the left, Parliament in the middle and a slim majority; it looks like the only doing or dying could be a trumped Boris Johnson after he has run out of cards to play.

He has just stated that he will only engage with the EU after it drops the backstop. So no dialogue is possible. No need to prorogue Parliament, just disengage from Brexit issues and no-deal rolls due to the

bad EU not granting his entitlement! It seems he will simply sit it out.

I watched Boris and his mannerisms and speech tones at

PMQS and I wondered what he reminded me of. Then I recalled Yes, Prime Minister and Jim Hacker when he occasionally went into Churchill mode.

Clearly Boris has been watching old programmes on

Youtube. I wonder what programmes his Cabinet might watch for inspiration? Game of Drones?
