#THOMASCOOK

Travel company Thomas Cook collapsed after government rescue talks failed, stranding thousands of Britons abroad.

@cockney67 wrote: “Didn’t keep with the times... have not booked a package trip since 1994... why would I?”

@Theblackswan wrote: “It’s a pity Thomas Cook wasn’t a bank.”

@Louwritetravel wrote: “Oh this made me teary. Loved Thomas Cook, used them for many flights inc. long haul Goa, amazing staff when I had panic attack, this is so sad! And gov could have helped and now it will cost much more to get people home! The Tories let us down again!”

@macdaymo wrote: “Just landed at Gatwick with #Thomascook strange hearing about the administration when we got here, passengers are very quiet staff have been very good... I feel sorry for those who are losing their jobs over this.”

@claretpaul26 tweeted: “You can’t owe banks that much money and expect to survive I’m afraid. Poor business strategies and poor management has been TC’S downfall.”

#AUTUMN

It was the first day of Autumn yesterday.

@THEBBC, apparently thinking we’re all American, wrote: “Happy first (official) day of autumn! The season for massive jumpers, cosy nights in, and pumpkin spice flavouring everywhere you look.”

@pettersongrande replied: “Thank You, but pumpkin spice is really gross...”

@girlsreallyrule wrote: “Right now the daylight hours are as equal to the nighttime as they will get and sun is over the equator as the earth rotates around the sun. This is as 50/50 as it gets. Enjoy!”

@sdnpa wrote: “On the first day of Autumn, my true love gave to me... (Sorry, wrong season).”

@peakdistrict tweeted: “Wondering why it’s called an equinox? The word ‘equinox’ comes from Latin aequus, meaning ‘equal,’ and nox, ‘night’. On the equinox, day and night are roughly equal in terms of length.”
