Man in hospital after attack by masked intruder

A man is in hospital after being seriously assaulted in a flat.

He was attacked at about 9:30am on Sunday by an intruder who forced his way into the flat, in James Street, Ayr, wearing a blue baseball cap and black scarf covering his face in an attempt to conceal his identity.

The victim, aged 45, suffered a serious hand injury and was taken to Ayr Hospital. He has since been transferred to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Detective con stable janet Ferguson said: “It’s imperative we trace the man responsible.”
