#DANWALKER

The BBC admitted a complaint it received about Naga Munchetty discussing racism also concerned fellow Breakfast presenter Dan Walker.

@afuahirsh wrote: “BBC now has to explain; 1. Why it reprimanded Naga Munchetty for condemning racism. 2. Why it only reprimanded her, when co-host Dan Walker was the one drawing her into it. 3. Why BBC lied twice, on air, when we questioned the reason she’d been singled out.”

@nzirafzal added: “Dan Walker did the same job but only @BBCNAGA was found in breach. Black & white television at its most obvious. There can only be one answer. Rip the decision up & apologise to her & all of us they’ve offended & let’s have a more diverse BBC Executive Complaints Unit.”

@mrmorrisphil said: “The astonishing thing here is that, whatever the views of this complainant, the BBC’S procedures seem to mean that a racist complainant who singles out a person of colour ensures that only the person of colour gets reprimanded.”

@simonrankmore reckoned: “This really is some straight up W1A **** isn’t it...” @danwavell said: “Presenters on this show always read news, and then often discuss it conversationally. It is not a simple news presentation. The complaint should just have been rejected on these grounds. Don’t watch this show if you don’t like human opinions along with facts.”

#PHILIPDAVIES

The Tory MP was reported as complaining that the party has selected too many candidates “because of their gender and the colour of their skin”.

@fair1ife4a11 wrote: “Yeah, I tend to agree. He’s a hero for calling this out, but I don’t exactly cheer to a lot of other things he says.”

@Paleoento tweeted: “If Philip Davies wasn’t white and male he would never have made it.”

@Maxsefton said: “The Tories are on 6% minority ethnicity MPS. I wonder which ones Philip Davies thinks are not there on merit.”

@henweb wrote: “This is the same Philip Davies who tried to stop the ‘upskirting’ bill by filibustering, not to mention the hospital car parking thing...”

@sighdasa reminded Twitter: “Never forget that Esther Mcvey and Philip Davies are partners.”
