Scottish judges delay ruling on whether to sign Brexit extension letter on Boris Johnson’s behalf

@drjawalsh commented: If Johnson fails to req ext on 19th the court will likely issue an order forcing him to do so. If he ignores that, he will be in contempt of the court and contempt proceedings will commence. Meanwhile the court could send the letter.

@jasonhebron said: In a nutshell, Johnson must act accordingly with the Benn act & as the judge says is expected to do so... Only if (or when) Boris strays away from the act or does not act accordingly then that is when the court will intervene..

@milbournes responded: Boris can make it clear that if they they offer an extension to the 31st of January the UK government will veto all EU business for three months. No way around that one – two can play at dirty tricks.

#THOMASCOOK

All 555 Thomas Cook stores to be bought by rival Hays Travel in a move that could save up to 2,500 jobs @mbretton commented: Really don’t get how this is a wise business decision? People don’t shop for holidays in the same way any more. Seems like delaying the inevitable.

@djmclark said: Clearly good news, but I’d expect Hays to ‘go to the wall’ in the next two years. The model of visiting high street travel shops is dead. The Coop proved it (2016?). Thomas Cook proved it (2019). If I was one of the 2500, I’d be looking for another job whilst being paid by Hays.

@bobbiebluenose remarked: Everyone moans about the high street stores closing but do nothing to support them staying open. Other travel companies have successful business models for stores. Great news for the staff. Hope it works out long term for them.

@stevesmithjsy said: Don’t be so negative people. This is good news for people and the high street. I’m sure Hays have a business plan as they wouldn’t have just done this coz their CEO had 1 beer too many!
