#EXTINCTIONREBELLION

An Extinction Rebellion activist had to be taken off a flight at London City Airport as part of ongoing protests. Police arrested several people blocking the airport entrance as others glued themselves to the floor and one man climbed on top of a plane.

@Ao1mark said: “This should be treated as a terrorist act and the sentence given appropriate to a terrorist act.”

@Djdaffyd commented: “How much jet fuel was wasted and pollution emitted for this ‘protest’? Defeats the point.”

@brianw2013 posted: “Can’t these idiots see they are doing the exact opposite to what they are wanting to achieve. They are putting people’s backs up, annoying people, inconveniencing people. In the process they are causing extra pollution.”

@Northwestpolit said: “I’m eating steak tonight! Every time they block something I eat meat for dinner!”

@Alanp4rks posted: “There should be some areas off limits to protestors for the sake of maintaining peace and lawful enterprise.”

@Trumpalstiltskin commented: “Good man! It’s about time someone did this!” @Hannahspannah added: “Reading these tweets and thinking of my 72-yearold mum’s tears before she headed off to the airport this morning, scared of prison but more scared of not acting. It is easy to think that extinction might be the best outcome for ‘humanity’.”

#BREXIT

Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his Irish counterpart Leo Varadkar agree they can “see a pathway to a possible deal” after talks, Downing Street says.

@Stardog23 said: “An unnamed No.10 source says that Leo Varadkar turned down a challenge from Johnson to recreate the naked wrestling scene from Women In Love to sort out the Irish border question once and for all.”

@thejpbee posted: “By pathway do you mean a something about a foot wide and 12ft long? Made of wood? Hanging over the side of a ship?”

@bankaudits1 commented: “More deckchair arranging as the band plays God Save The Queen and SS Britannia sinks slowly below the waves.”
