- By EMMA NEWLANDS

Business Gateway Edinburgh and the Lothians has unveiled plans for a host of events, workshops, seminars and networking sessions, taking place during its imminent fourth annual Business Week.

The aim of the initiative – taking place from 26 October to 2 November – is to celebrate entrepreneurs across the region and highlight the free support available for start-up and growth businesses, from one-to-one ongoing consultancy and workshops focusing on all key areas, including HR, legal, planning and marketing, to Digital Boost support and start-up mentoring.

Highlights include a Breakfast Networking in the City event that will take place on 1 November at the City Arts Centre with speakers including Adam Robertson, co-founder of Leith-based textiles manufacturer Kalopsia.

Various sessions will be taking place across the regions including a joint event for growth businesses with Business Gateway West Lothian and accountancy firm KPMG, titled Trading in Uncertain Times, on 30 October in Livingston. Speaking at the event will be James Dewar, associate director at KPMG, who will discuss warning signs to look out for in times of uncertainty.

Business Gateway will also be sponsoring the Futurex Startup Summit for the eighth year running at the Assembly Rooms on 30 October.

Susan Harkins, head of Business Gateway Edinburgh, hailed the “fantastic” mix of events during its forthcoming Business Week.

She added: “This is a great time for entrepreneurs to get to as many events and workshops as possible to find out about all the free resources available at Business Gateway… It’s also a great chance to get out there and meet other business owners to share contacts, referrals, advice and to build your network.”
