#BREXIT

EU leaders have agreed in principle to extend Brexit until 31 January 2020. EU Council president Donald Tusk said it was a “flextension” – meaning the UK could leave before the deadline if a deal was approved by Parliament.

@dm055y was happy: “Trip to the German Christmas market back on then.”

@bigdogfrostie commented: “Thank you EU. Your calmness and rationality is embarrassing when compared to our lot.”

@lionheartleojai said: “Breaking: Time traveller returns from distant future wearing ‘Prepare for Brexit’ T-shirt.”

@offshore1997 posted: “So

. . . this is what a Kafka-like version of Benny Hill looks like?”

@geoffwilton2 said: “We are all shocked at this surprising turn of events. Boris Johnson will have to get up from lying in front of the bulldozers at Heathrow to find that ditch.”

@gforce_brown82 commented: “I’d rather we left on 31 October without a deal! This has dragged longer than a soap storyline.”

@44tunafish posted: “Three more months to stockpile sardine pate.”

@cathrynberry said: “This will end with a penalty shoot out.”

@markmclaren commented: “The UK has zero credibility in the world any more. The politicians have zero respect from the nation. Time we had an election and settled this matter.”

#PIGSINBLANKETS

In further distressing Brexit news, pigs in blankets and other festive meal treats might be in short supply this Christmas. The British Meat Processors Association says meat plants are not attracting enough seasonal EU workers.

@mark_w_1 said: “I guess if I try I could buy sausages and bacon separately . . .and if I try really hard I might manage to wrap the bacon around the sausage myself . . .”

@adorakitty1 commented: “Googling Youtube tutorials as we speak. Now do we roll the sausage up in the bacon or wrap the bacon round the sausage?”

@Robnorwood6 said: “First we were told lamb exports would be affected and now no wrapped sausages for Christmas. Things are going from baaad to wurst.”

@Mrgrimsdale2 posted: “That was never written on the side of the big red bus! Outrageous.”

@3paraman added: “Please let sprouts be on the list.”
