Dog killed after van mounts pavement

A man has been seriously injured and his dog died after they were hit by a van which mounted a footpath.

The 76-year-old was walking his dog near Corstorphine High Street, Edinburgh, when the incident happened at about 4.55pm on Tuesday.

The man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious head injuries, while the dog died at the scene.

Police have appealed for information.
