Yellow for Greens

Patrick Harvie MSP has pledged free public transport for all in the Greens’ UK election manifesto, to be paid for by doubling first-year vehicle excise duty on more polluting vehicles and reversing the fuel duty freeze (your report, 23 November). He has a cheek – he is only an MSP through the list procedure. He was obviously too frightened to stand as an MP and with this manifesto would lose his deposit. Harvie needs to remember

that French President Macron tried to introduce green taxes and increase fuel duty but after weeks of often violent protests from the Yellow Vests he was humiliated, and capitulated. Time to look out the yellow vests for polling day.
