Back of the net: Legal group DWF advises on football club sale to lottery winner
DWF’S Scottish corporate team has advised on the sale of Partick Thistle FC to Euromillions winner Colin Weir. The lifelong fan, who won £161 million in 2011, completed his takeover of the club last week. Global legal business DWF supported the football club’s majority shareholders during the offloading of a 55 per cent stake to Three Black Cats, a company wholly owned by Weir. The deal coincided with Firhill Developments’ sale of a share of Partick Thistle’s Firhill Stadium, also to Three Black Cats, which involved DWF’S Glasgow property team.
