11 injured in New Orleans shootings

Eleven people were shot in the French Quarter of New Orleans early yesterday.

Two people are in a critical condition in hospital. Police Superintendent Shaun Ferguson said a person of interest has been detained.

The shooting took place on a busy commercial block of Canal Street. The 10 victims were taken to two hospitals and another walked in.

Mr Ferguson said police patrols whad been heightened for this weekend’s Bayou Classic, the annual Thanksgiving weekend American football game at the Mercedes-benz Superdome.
