Bridge too far?

American people down.”

Gary Lindsay I would urge Cumming to withdraw his comments ASAP before issuing a profound apology. As a new American citizen his outburst might lead to that citizenship being withdrawn. The last thing we need here is another Sturgeon sycophant returning to our shores to spout his undying love for our (far from beloved) “leader”.

More than one million extra journeys have been made over the Queensferry Crossing in the past year – despite ministers pledging that increased cross-forth travel would be by public transport.

Could be that with improved speed limits and fewer closures some of this increase is due to longdistance traffic switching from the Stirling to Perth A9 route. We should aim for overall reduction over localised reduction.

Craig Cockburn

Mair people than ever are using a bridge that was designed fir that purpose. SNP baaaaad.

Garry Burgess Motor traffic is like gas, it expands to fill any space available to it.

Robbie Craig

Sort out public transport then! It’s no wonder people are going back to cars with the shocking level of service offered by Scotrail.

Martin Mckeen

But there’s less traffic on the old one.

Ronnie E Obern

It’s a no-brainer... put tolls on it to cross both directions.

Amanda Steven

3.9 per cent increase.

Sinclair Cram

Oh no, that’s bad that people are using the bridge and more traffic, trade and tourists are going up and down our country.

Barry Kirk Don’t trust a word the SNP say. That aside, don’t know why more people from Dunfermline and its environs don’t use the bus to travel to central Edinburgh. Apparently drivers can park free at Rosyth and Halbeath. The cost of a return bus ticket? £6. Driving into and back from Edinburgh during rush-hour would probably cost more than one gallon of petrol. There’s a bus roughly every ten minutes and, with bus lanes and the use of the old Road Bridge, it’s faster. With no parking problems in central Edinburgh. Different, of course, if the trip is elsewhere in Edinburgh or if there is free parking at the place of work.

Singalongasturge The number of journeys will continue to rise as long as cheap housing developments are being built in Fife. You can get an excellent family house for 50% of the cost in Edinburgh. And the problem is nothing to do with the crossing, it’s the ancient infrastructure from the crossing into central Edinburgh that cannot cope.
