ELECTION DIGEST

-

• Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, right, has said he is “not really” worried about losing his seat in the general election.

The First Secretary of State, who is MP for Esher and Walton in Surrey, acknowledged that “with a seat like mine you never take anything for granted”.

His comments came as a poll suggests Mr Raab is at risk of losing his seat in a tactical voting switch.

• The PM again failed to commit to an interview by the BBC’S Andrew Neil, despite Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn being grilled by the veteran journalist last week.

Mr Johnson said he was “perfectly happy to be interviewed by any interviewer called Andrew from the BBC” – though he said he had taken part in many interviews during the campaign, adding that “no previous prime minister has done one-on-one TV debates”. He was interviewed by Andrew Marr yesterday.

• The Conservatives also found themselves on the wrong side of Facebook. The social media giant deleted a campaign ad using edited footage of BBC news reports, saying it infringed the corporation’s intellectual property (IP) rights.

The ad featured clips of newsreaders talking about a “pointless delay to Brexit” and “another Brexit delay”, but the BBC said the material had been used out of context in a way that “could damage perceptions of our impartiality”. And after the Tories refused to take it down the Beeb complained to Facebook, who swiftly removed it.
