Selkirk set to hold minute’s silence for club president

- By GARY HEATLY

Selkirk will pay tribute to president angus boag, who passed away suddenly six days ago, before today’s Tennent’s Premiership home match with Currie Chieftains.

A minute’s silence will be held in his memory prior to the rearranged fixture at Philiphaugh after his loss hit the Borders club hard.

Boag had taken up the post of president in the summer of this year and previously served as the club’s secretary from 2001 to 2004 and later played a leading role in setting up Selkirk’s first club shop.

The home side go into the match in the fourth and final play-off spot, while Currie are second in the table.

Both lost last weekend and Selkirk head coach Scott Wight will be looking for a big performance from his men.

Currie name an unchanged backline for this one, with Roy Vucago starting at hooker in place of injured captain Fergus Scott.

“Although we were disappointed to lose last week to Marr there were lots of positives we could take from the match,” Currie head coach Mark Cairns said.

“Selkirk will be looking to end the year on a high in front of their home crowd, so it’s going to be a really tough game and one we need to win in order to get back on track.”

There are three other rearranged matches scheduled for this afternoon too.

Leaders Marr are at a resurgent Musselburgh and the Troon side’s head coach Craig Redpath said: “This will be a tough game as Musselburgh are playing well and have obtained a couple of good results to move them up the table.

“Their pack has been to the fore and the half backs have been controlling the game for them. We know every game in this league is tough and will need to play well to get a positive result.”

Tom Foley comes in on the wing for Musselburgh.

Hawick head to GHA looking for a sixth win on the spin.

James Rowley comes into the second row for the thirdplaced Greens while GHA, in sixth spot, have Andrew Lamb drafted in at full-back.

Bottom side Edinburgh Accies host Jed-forest at Raeburn Place. Callum Ramm and Jamie Loomes are among the players brought into the starting XV for the home side.
