Northern and western parts of the UK, including much of Scotland, will have outbreaks of rain, these clearing later on, perhaps with a few bright spells later. The south and east of the UK will see rain later in the afternoon.

OUTLOOK

Tuesday will be generally cloudy and blustery with outbreaks of rain. Western Scotland will have gales or severe gales. A brighter and less windy day on Wednesday but with showers for western Scotland, some wintry over hills.

A very blustery day with gales. Any bright spells will give way to cloudier skies and patchy rain from the west. Turning clearer again later on. Max temp 8-11C (46-52F). Tonight, light showers. Min temp 4-7C (39-45F).

Caithness, Grampians, Strathspey, Moray Firth, Inverness, Aberdeensh­ire, Lowlands:

Any early bright spells will give way to cloudier skies and rain from the west. Drier again later on. A blustery day with strong southerly winds. Max temp 8-11C (46-52F). Tonight, clear spells. Min temp 2-5C (36-41F).

Western Isles, North-west Highlands, Skye, Glen Mor, Argyll:

A cloudy, blustery morning with widespread rain. Rain giving way to bright spells and showers in the afternoon. Strong southweste­rly winds. Max temp 8-11C (46-52F). Tonight, light showers. Min temp 5-8C (41-46F).

The Borders, the Lothians including Perth and Stirling areas, Fife, Angus including Dundee:
