Mouthpiece
When it opened in December 2018, Kieran Hurley’s play created a midwinter sensation, with its story of a middle-aged Edinburgh playwright who revitalises her career by “borrowing” the words and lifestory of Declan, a troubled lad from Muirhouse. Now – after the success of Hurley’s film Beats – Mouthpiece is briefly back, celebrating its London run last year, and its upcoming tour to Australia and New Zealand. Shauna Macdonald and Angus Taylor star in a tense and thrilling meta-drama about class and power in the arts. Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh, 6-15 February, 0131-228 1404; Tron Theatre, Glasgow, 27-29 February, 0141-552 4267
