Boris Johnson’s Brexit deal will help his supporters but do nothing for UK trade

-

Boris Johnson’s Brexit deal is a farcical proposal, endorsing all of the policies of the Tory right. It will ensure that the wealthy few continue to amass their obscene riches.

The Tory right claimed that the UK could sign new trade deals with China, the US and Japan, all while maintaining access to EU single market. This is a fantasy.

The Tories view Brexit as a chance to turn the clock back to a mythical past. One where democratic rights are ripped up and prejudices are cynically encouraged. One where Imperial “greatness” is retained – a fantasy festival.

All the Hard Brexiteers have is hate-filled invectives filled with paeans to empire and the military. Fascistic attacks on immigrants and invocations of religion, the Royals and the Union flag.

Boris Johnson deliberately plays up his image of an incompetent buffoon, as a shield against his extreme right-wing views.

Brexit will further lay bare the gulf between the majority and the minuscule financial and corporate oligarchy that controls the money supply and dictates the policies of government.

The Tory Brexit pushes a sickening folksy nostalgia not seen since Ronald Reagan was in the White House. Under Brexit, lies have replaced truth in service of the plutocracy.

Any time reality contradicts Brexit propaganda, reality must be denied. Quite simply, doing less trade with your biggest trading partner will cause your economy to shrink. The Tories have not been able to show any positive impact Brexit will have.

The “Scottish” Tories and other Unionists prostate themselves, awaiting whatever instructions come from their Westminster masters, no matter how detrimental it is to Scottish interests. There is no doubt that the fishing industry will be sold out to the EU, the NHS to Trump’s donors.

There will now be negotiations with the EU to get a trade deal.

These will be lead by Boris Johnson, a man who hid in a fridge to avoid a reporter.
