#CORONAVIRUS

The World Health Organisation directorgeneral says the world is “at a decisive point” as at least 82,000 global cases are confirmed. The death toll stands at over 2,800.

@Willywilly_101 wondered: “I’m puzzled by all this panic. Over 600,000 people worldwide die each year from the common flu, yet so many are frightened to death by the coronavirus which doesn’t seem to be as threatening to life as the common flu. People panic way too easily.”

@Relaxedmomma helped out: “Death rates for perspective - Seasonal flu 1%; Coronavirus 2%; Spanish flu 3%; Measles 15%; Smallpox 30%.”

@Stew_pac13 contributed: “To all the comments about the flu being worse – yes, more people die annually from the flu. You also have less than a 0.1% chance of dying from the flu if you get it. Coronavirus kills more than 2% infected right now. The fear is over making sure it doesn’t spread like the flu.”

@Odysseusithake wasn’t convinced: “No pandemic. No pandemic. Wait... 50 countries with cases.”

@irish7584 announced: “Goodbye everyone, I’m moving to Antarctica.”

@vicente03427164 generously offered: “You’ll be needing a hug buddy there, I’ll tag along.”

@_Alisonkelly_ concluded: “China: It’s just a cold. World: Yeah, no...”

#WORKERRORS

A Twitter user’s question as to what was the biggest mistake you’ve ever made at work brought a massive response.

@Stevedoherty1 tweeted: “I once accidentally erased a section of the master tape for a Radio 4 Afternoon Play. It still haunts me.”

@Lynkirbymistry tweeted: “Not me personally, but my husband’s newest employee on his first day scraped the company van all down the side of my husband’s Porche.”

Re-faced @Mikemaddox10 admitted: “I once emailed the CEO of a FTSE 100 corporation to tell him I’d be home at seven, I’d pick up some pasta on the way, and that I loved him.”

@gingerbreadmiss revealed: “You know when you put something in a super-safe place and forget where that super-safe place was? I did that. With a client’s cheque for over €500k. Problem was, I forget where the super-safe place was. I still don’t know.”
