Making waves with IWD charity swim

Thousands of outdoor swimmers from Shetland to Cornwall gathered yesterday on freezing beaches, lochs, riversides and lidos to watch the sun rise on International Women’s Day and have a bracing dip to raise money for their local women’s charities.

Among them were dozens of women at Portobello Beach, in solidarity with swims worldwide under the banner #Iwdswimrise. Donations from swimmers and supporters went to Women’s Aid and other women’s charities.

■ Winning numbers in Saturday night’s Lotto draw were 5, 29, 35, 36, 40 and 44, with bonus ball 42.
