#CORONAVIRUS

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has announced an extensive lockdown on all movement within the Lombardy region, where Milan is the capital, and 14 other provinces as a measure to combat the spread of coronavirus.

@howroute noted: “A final chance to evacuate from the Covid-19 red zone. People rush to catch the last trains leaving Lombardy after government declared the quarantine and lockdown of 16 million people in Northern Italy. The mandatory quarantine will last until early April.”

@Violetcedar voiced: “What if some of these people are infected?”

@Racheldonadio commented: “The head of Lombardy’s intensive care crisis unit says the health system is on the brink of collapse, intensive care being set up in hallways. By March 26 they predict 18,000 Covid-19 cases in Lombardy, of which 3,000 will need intensive care.”

@Multra64 warned: “America, we are just what? 14 days or so behind them...? A worried @Catblack04 asked: “Does this mean that all of the Italians who travelled to Ireland over the weekend are stuck here possibly spreading the disease? A lot of flights came into Dublin from Milan.”
