Flights of fancy?

-

With a number of countries now beginning to ease restrictions, flights are starting to become operational again. The UK could see passenger flights start to become operational again around mid-june.

How about all airlines offering a full refund if desired, as opposed to this “free change of name on ticket or free exchange of dates or destinations”. We all know if you have any leisure travel before mid-june, you have very little chance of it going ahead. These airlines are quite happy to hold on to people’s hundreds if not thousands of pounds while those same people might have been made unemployed or are now struggling financially due to the virus.

Alan Donaldson

Crazy. If they don’t stop flights, this virus will go on to a second wave of spreading, which could be worse than it is now. Stop playing with people’s lives.

John Greenhorn

Total madness – my life is more important than a holiday. What’s the point in our frontline heroes risking their lives to save our most vulnerable in these unprecedented and challenging times, if people will not do what they are told and stay at home?

Jay Doubleyoo

I’ll not be in any rush to fly anywhere this year, and maybe next year, until the dust settles and a vaccine rides in with the 7th Cavalry. At my age I know I’m not immortal.

Felicity Thornton Spain has said there is not much chance of any bars/ clubs or restaurants opening until a vaccine is found . Anybody want to go until they find a vaccine?

William Orr Is money more important than people’s lives? You can’t travel if you’re dead.

Lee Noble It will be at least a year before they even consider people going abroad on holiday even if we do get back to normal here soon.

Ian Baillie go past on the street, in a collective show of support to bereaved families.

I always stop and do this regardless as a sign of respect, Most people were raised this way but I feel at this time especially it is even more important as a community far and wide to show respect and support to all those who have fought and passed.

I was taught to lift one’s hat or at least stand to attention for a passing hearse.

Alastair Moir

I always do this or I drive slowly to let them pass. Sadly somebody decided to overtake my mother’s cortège with the undertaker walking ahead, as she left her home for the last time. It’s comforting to those who’ve lost loved ones to see signs of respect, especially from strangers, in these times

Barbara Maclean

As a young woman no one ignored a passing hearse. Everyone stopped and workmen took off their “bonnets” and stood until it passed by.

Betty Jack We should definitely revive this custom and keep doing it after this is all over. It is a very simple thing to do.

Kristine Davies around 25,000 each August, hope restrictions on events will be relaxed in time to allow this summer’s run to go ahead. Otherwise, they will try to bring their show to Edinburgh later in the year.

Why can’t they do an online show that you pay to watch? OK, it’s not the same atmosphere and no audience participation, but would be much safer and still cheer everyone up.

Alec Mathison No way should this be allowed. I have had tickets for three shows cancelled but I would rather live than risk my life sitting among that volume of people.
