Anderson Strathern unveils key appointment and further Covid-19 help

- By EMMA NEWLANDS

Law firm Anderson Strathern has signed up private client lawyer Siobhan Mcguigan, who joins as a partner from Blackadders.

Mcguigan, who brings experience across the full range of private client services, will head up that team in the firm’s expanded Glasgow office while working with Carole Tomlinson, who is head of private client.

The firm said the appointment comes as it experiences an increasing demand for private client services, such as wills and powers of attorney, during the current Covid-19 pandemic. It has added a For You section to its Business Hub, developed to help business leaders as companies face up to the financial effects of the outbreak.

Mcguigan has more than 18 years of expertise in the sector, with a particular focus on executry work, wills and powers of attorney. She is also a senior tutor at the University of Glasgow on its diploma in legal practice.

The move also comes after Anderson Strathern recently took a further suite of office space at George House in Glasgow’s George Square following the merger with Glasgow law firm Hardy Macphail in October 2019, which added a roster of small and mediumsized enterprises to the firm’s client base.

Mcguigan said: “The depth and focus of the expertise in the private client department, as well as the access to quality advice across the rest of the firm was what attracted me to the role, and I look forward to the future with Anderson Strathern.”

Tomlinson also commented: “Siobhan’s experience and expertise is a perfect fit with our existing team and we are looking forward to working with her and to build on and develop our expanding private client offering in Glasgow and the west of Scotland.”
