Captain Tom Moore is to be recognised by the Prime Minister for his ‘heroic efforts’ as his NHS fundraising hits £18 million

The fact that he felt the need to do this to raise money for a basic human rights service speaks volumes. Anyway, well done that man.

Denny Hunter I just hope this government or any NHS managers don’t get their hands on a penny of this money. A separate board of doctors and nurses should be set up to manage the funds. You know, people who know what they’re talking about; people who know what’s needed on the front line.

Brenda Kelly The best way to support your NHS is by not voting Tory. It’s lovely that people are raising money for the NHS, but I’ve been raising money for the NHS my entire working life. It’s called income tax and national insurance. The problem is that the politicians administering that money for the last decade decided to siphon it off to pay for endless tax cuts and handouts for corporations and their mega-rich mates, instead of investing in our health service.

May Higgins It’s nice that he’s doing this, but the NHS is not a charity and should be fully funded by the government. This kind of thing lets them off the hook.
