New online marketplace launches bringing local produce to Edinburgh
A food delivery service has been launched in the capital to champion local suppliers and producers
Roeder & Bell, an online food marketplace, has launched this month to offer customers in Edinburgh and the Lothians independently sourced local food and drink. The idea is to offer shoppers a contactless home food and drink delivery service, and the opportunity to experience and support the very best food produce from bespoke and independent suppliers. Food and drink parcels can be delivered daily, to postcodes across Edinburgh and the Lothians, It is hoped the service will also help give food brand suppliers a boost during the current Covid-19 crisis.
Roeder & Bell’s focus is entirely on local and independent brands, with the marketplace stocking items from businesses such as George Bower Butchers; I J Mellis, Yester Farm Dairies, The Edinburgh Butter Co and Aye Pickled. Roeder & Bell has also partnered with Raeburn Fine Wines, one of Scotland’s most respected wine merchants, specialising in old world wines and offers a selection of, mostly organic, wines and champagne from their stock.
Cameron Bell and Emma Roeder, the husband-and-wife team behind the Edinburgh based business, originally wanted to open a boutique grocery store in the capital. But, with Covid-19 restrictions, the couple sought to explore opportunities with their innovative business idea and launched Roeder & Bell services online instead.
Emma said: “We decided to do things differently. Consumers have increasingly turned to online purchasing in recent weeks and there is a renewed interest in supporting local businesses, especially in the food and drink sectors. The landscape is changing fast and Roeder & Bell aim to provide customers in Edinburgh and the Lothians with a range of fresh meats, dairies, vegetables, fruit, baked goods and luxury items at their fingertips without the hassle of visiting multiple stores. Our food selections and parcels are a celebration of unique products we know people will absolutely love discovering, with the added benefit of supporting local businesses.
Cameron added; “Roeder & Bell is not just an online food store, in some cases it offers a lifeline for those independent food and drink brands struggling to keep their businesses afloat during the current climate.” www.roederandbell.com
