Celebrity fashion stylist Joey Bevan
What’s the last piece of clothing you bought?
Just before lockdown, I popped into my favourite local charity shop and found a dusty blue chunky soft-knit jumper. It’s beautiful. It only cost £6 and it was new with tags on. Result!
What are you addicted to buying?
‘Dad’ shirts. I have more than 38 of these shortsleeved shirts in every print, colour and texture you can think of. I’ve worn them for years and when they finally came into fashion I was ready to go. I also have so many vintage shirts with the most amazing and unique prints.
Best ever bargain?
A YSL dinner suit I found in a charity shop in Basildon, Essex. I was 17-years-old, it cost me £15 for the full suit and I loved it. I gave it away to my brother because it didn’t fit anymore. That was the biggest regret of my life. I should’ve framed it.
Who has great style?
Jeff Goldblum is my style icon. He could wear a bin bag and it would still look chic. I’d say my style is similar to him, just mine is a little more understated and casual.
Name your favourite high street shop.
I love All Saints for top end high street. I also adore River Island – for me, the fit is perfect and when they play with vintage style looks, they rock. I also love Zara – their pieces are so chic and reasonably priced.
Any fashion disasters you’d care to tell us about?
I used to own a pair of baggy dance cargo pants with the ribbon strips hanging off them. I think I thought I was a member of Hear’say. ■
