#WORZELGUMMIDGE

Boris Johnson, whose hair hasn’t looked noticeably more unkempt during the Covid crisis, has been compared to TV scarecrow.

@1nutcracker wrote: “Meanwhile, have you seen the state of the British PM? Makes Worzel Gummidge look like a male catwalk model. If his appearance was due to self neglect while tackling pandemic it could be excused, but Larry the cats done more in national interest.”

@socialistvoice wrote: “Remember when the Tory gutter press attacked Jeremy Corbyn’s ‘scruffy’ appearance and even criticised the colour of his tie? I wonder what it thinks of Boris Johnson appearing at the launch of Rupert Murdoch’s Times Radio this morning looking like Worzel Gummidge?”

@admiralj_kirk said: “Our PM is being compared to Worzel Gummidge, but poor old Worzel had a likeable personality, had morals and did sometimes have his thinking head on! Boris...”

@randomsunrises wrote: “People are saying Boris looks like Worzel Gummidge, but personally I think that’s very harsh on Worzel. At least he was stylish.”

@Johnbensalhia tweeted: “Never mind Worzel Gummidge, Johnson looks more like Worzel’s chum, Dafthead. Which is a case of a ‘putting it mildly’ nickname.”

#KEIRSTARMER

The Labour Party leader was criticised for referring to the ongoing Black Lives Matter campaign as ‘a moment across the world’.

@Socofcolour wrote: “We’re disappointed and disgusted by the comments made by @Keir_starmer. BLM is not a moment, it is a movement that challenges and calls for the end of systematic racism, which includes the UK’S deep-rooted racism.”

@Jaacable said: “I need non-black people to take heed of the contempt Keir Starmer has for Black political thought and aspiration. I need people to speak up & stand with Black minorities, because it’s looking a lot like Starmer is happy to be passed the baton of racial brutality if elected.”

@sxranya wrote: “Keir Starmer going on TV and calling the activism of Black Lives Matter ‘nonsense’ is playing on exactly what parts of the British public want to hear. They want their disdain for the movement to be legitimised and that’s what he’s done.”
