#SELF-ISOLATION

The UK has relaxed selfisolation requirements for people from over 50 countries. England, Wales and Northern Ireland have the same approved list. However, in Scotland, restrictions remain for people arriving from Spain.

@Weesmasher81 tweeted: “Scotland follows the science.”

However, @freddiemac1 replied: “Sturgeon clueless when asked about the Canaries etc at Holyrood. Lanzarote now Covid-free 1,500 miles from Barcelona where Covid was on the rise.”

@rsmck wondered: “So if Scotland can maintain its own list it could easily have included Canada, which has controlled the situation far better than us... missed opportunity here, surely?”

@ellisaj1 added: “What’s the point of including Australia as exempt when the only way to get to the UK is through transit hubs which are not on the list (except for Hong Kong). Why, oh why, is Singapore not in the list?”

@Mattwortley worried: “But why is no-one talking about the quarantine requirements at other destinations? Holidaymakers are going to get some very unpleasant surprises visiting Greece after the 15th, for example.”

Cynical @Cornerwestern reckoned: “It’s all irrelevant. No one checks. No one cares. “

@Martinblacksto2 commented: “Surely the least you could do is set up testing stations at all airports to test-track all incoming visitors... or are you that sure you are not increasing the number of new cases? Undoing all the work everyone has done in the UK.”

#DAMEVERALYNN

The funeral of Dame Vera Lynn, the Forces Sweetheart who died last month at the age of 103, was marked with a Spitfire flypast in her home village of Ditchling in Sussex.

@Laurayourforte noted: “Today we say farewell to Dame Vera Lynn, the Forces Sweetheart, on the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.”

The Royal British Legion, @Poppylegion, mourned: “Our members, and all within our community, will forever be indebted to Dame Vera.”

@captaintommoore added his own tribute: “She was kind and she was lovely. I’ve always had a place in my heart for Dame Vera.”

@terryflewers concluded: “A true hero to this country, an icon that will never be forgotten. Thank you and God bless your soul.”
