Death of teenager ‘unexplained’

The death of a teenager who was found seriously injured in a town car park is being treated as “unexplained” by police.

The 17-year-old was discovered in a car park near Motherwell Civic Centre shortly after 9.30am yesterday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. His next of kin have been told.

A police spokeswoman said: “His death is being treated as unexplained.

“A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course.”
