#UKVISAS

Care sector leaders have reacted with anger after carers were left out of a new NHS visa system for entry into the UK as the government published details of its plans for immigration after the postbrexit transition phase ends.

@alexandrabulat snapped: “From ‘key workers’ back to ‘unskilled migrants’. It didn’t take too long.”

@therightarticle agreed: “Utter slap in the face as Tories snub care workers from health visa. Despite being among the heroes of the coronavirus pandemic.”

@Snowibee worried: “So who will care for the sick and disabled and older people?”

@debs3759 tweeted: “I reckon the Tories are hoping there will be no-one left alive in care homes once the second wave hits. That would fit their herd immunity plans.”

@Siobhanbenita joined in: “Step 1: Clap for carers; Step 2: Blame carers for care home deaths; Step 3: Deny carers visas in new immigration system. The shambolic, hostile, disrespectful and inadequate Tory approach to social care.”

But @nickcarthew was more reassuring: “I’m willing to bet that down the line care workers from abroad will be able to get visas, and it will be sooner rather than later.” @vicderbyshire summed up: “Why is it called a ‘health and care visa’ when care workers are excluded?”

#MARYTRUMP

A judge has lifted a restraining order one day before her book on Donald Trump, ‘Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man’, is released.

An excited @ cantchgusername tweeted: “Ordered her book. It’s coming in a few days. When I finish it I’m going to donate it to the library.”

@Parkhillspam wondered: “Eager to hear how she knows a dead man took the SAT for Trump – whose widow denies it and who had not met Trump when he supposedly took SAT for him.”

@Sam_in_atl replied: “I’m sure it must not have happened. Trump seems so reliable and trustworthy. And Smart. Not like someone to cheat his way into an Ivy League school!”

@Frankamari2 reckoned: “When she gives TV interviews imagine the ratings!”

@Kellyannk308 enthused: “Oh, nice this is going be; Donald Trump ‘Mommie Dearest’ book – can’t wait!”
