Two Rivers Media to make follow-up Frankie Boyle documentary for BBC
Glasgow-based independent production company Two Rivers Media has been commissioned by BBC Two to make a follow-up Frankie Boyle documentary.
Frankie Boyle Live: Excited For You To See And Hate This comes on the back of Two Rivers’ four-parter, Frankie Boyle’s Tour of Scotland for BBC Two, which chronicled his live comedy tour. The 45-minute documentary features Boyle’s final show in Glasgow, which sees him discuss the city’s relationship with swearing and vitamins, the nature of controversy and comedy, and British politics.
Mick Mcavoy, head of factual at Two Rivers, said: “Frankie Boyle’s Tour of Scotland saw
Frankie get under the skin of his home country as he travelled its length and breadth, and we were delighted with the reception it received.
“As a pre-covid production, we were able to garner lots of compelling material. So, we saw an opportunity to approach BBC Two about the possibility of creating a follow-up show from the material we shot. We have a range of productions on the go at the moment and we are delighted to be able to continue delivering productions in these challenging times.”
Hamish Fergusson, commissioning editor, BBC Documentaries, said: “We’re very excited to be able to offer BBC Two viewers a stand-up show from Frankie at his unflinching best. After the success of his acclaimed Tour of Scotland
last year, this is an exclusive chance to see the show he took on the road across his home nation for that series.”
The new show is executive produced by Mick Mcavoy and Nicky Waltham, directed by Graeme Hart and produced by Kirsty Macfarlane.
Two Rivers Media is led by MD Alan Clements and its investors include merchant bank Noble Grossart.
