Locked again

-

Nicola Sturgeon has said the uncertainty over the origin of the outbreak of Covid-19 in Aberdeen and the ongoing “rapid transmission” of the virus created a tipping-point for the Scottish Government to reimpose lockdown restrictions in the city.

If some people would just listen to good advice instead mocking the SNP none of this would happen. Just think of the NHS who worked tirelessly to help numpties like you and all the people who did not make it stay safe.

Elizabeth Cunningham It was only twelve near Dumfries and she closed a good swathe of Dumfries down and was trying to close the border. Double standards.

Sheila Glover Some 0.03 per cent of Aberdeen’s population get sick and about 230,000 pay the price. Brilliant decision.

I feel for the small businesses.

Sonja Thiede Better than paying the price by getting the virus. Save your anger for the idiot people who can’t stick to simple rules.

Yvonne Mackay

Be nice to see what these new restrictions are and if yourselves and other news outlets would agree on just how many new infections there have been...

Alistair Foden

I think she’s over-reacting; it’s only 64 cases and there have been no deaths; it’s only a small amount, it’s not if it was over 100.

Duncan Walker You’re missing the point; only a few days ago it was 11, very quickly has reached 64. This emphasises all that the medical people tell us about how quickly this disease can spread if people do not observe the rules. Let’s hope that it has spread no more than the 64 people.

Frederick Watson

I just canny believe you said that, but it’s the right decision.

Walter Inglis

This is tyranny. Hopefully the people and businesses in Aberdeen do not comply.

Paul Finnon

Has anyone had a look at Melbourne in Australia? The whole country was apparently doing really well and then a few weeks ago Melbourne went mad and has gone from level 1 or 2 restrictions to level 4 restrictions in a matter of weeks, now with pretty well all businesses closed and a city-wide curfew in place between 8pm and 5am.

“There’s always a sense of ‘we’re doing well and it won’t happen here’,” she said. And just who promoted that idea by saying Scotland was near to “total eradication” of the virus? Why, that would be Sturgeon herself!

kmcn

It would appear that this is not “a good day for Scotland”.

Edmund North

Losing our freedom again because people don’t have common sense and don’t realise we are in the middle of a freaking pandemic. Wake up and smell the coffee, folks!

Lua Røkkum

Well, that’ll be me on the first train outta here lol.

Adam Fervid

Are these ‘restrictions’ enforceable in law, or are they just guidelines (again)?

Philip Hartley There can be no doubt that young Scots were led to believe Scotland had been so successful in “almost eliminating” the virus that complacency set in.

Bill Carson

The problem I have with this whole debacle is: how can grades increase in relation to last year? Swinney has made a nonsense of the statistics.

Oldyun

This can only reinforce class privilege and ambition! What young person, downgraded institutionally, can push ahead to achieve in such an environment? Very troubling.

Déirdre Ní Mhathúna Keeps them out of university and makes way for fee-paying students.

Christine Heeps

It’s disgusting that schools were pre-judged despite intelligent pupils attending... from all types of background – who are the government to judge anyone!

Jade Alexandra Duncan

Nobody has lost out on anything. All that’s happened is that totally unrealistic estimates have been submitted by some teachers, and they have been statistically adjusted. It doesn’t matter where pupils come from, poor areas or better off, the standard should be the same for everybody.
