Match abandoned

I have seen press comment commending Aberdeen FC and Celtic FC for their exemplary response to the recent pub-night-out outrage and the Bolingoli lunacy. The reality of the situation is very different.

First, the board of directors of any limited company, including both Aberdeen FC and Celtic FC, are responsible in statute for the affairs of and conduct of the company; the board is responsible for establishing policies and procedures to ensure that they and the club/company comply with their statutory obligations; it follows that the respective boards have failed in their duty and all members of both must resign or be removed immediately.

Second, the manager is responsible for the day-to-day running of a football club, so both Derek Mcinnes and Neil Lennon have to be fired, irrespective of the present respective sets of circumstances.

Third, Aberdeen and Celtic are, as it stands, set to benefit from their failures and transgressions which is grossly unacceptable; both teams should forfeit every scheduled game 3-0 until they are cleared to play again.

Fourth, the Aberdeen Eight should be suspended for 90 days and fined 90 days’ wages.

Fifth, Bolingoli should be prosecuted and given a custodial sentence if found guilty. On release from jail, he must be banned for life from Scottish football. His £480 fine is so far removed from the gravity of his offence as to represent a gross insult to the people of Scotland.
